Massive Updates to the List

There have been massive updates to the burger list, including AHT, Burger Doctor, etc.

George Burgers - Escondido, CA

Back home in Escondido and Jeff the roommate and I decided to try out a local joint that I happened to pass.

It's a typical mom and pop style place, with slide in booths and TVs in each corner. For some odd reason, they were all set to the Tennis Channel. Guess they like tennis here.

Both ordered double patty with cheese and bacon combo, with fries and drink. Came to $9, so not too bad money-wise. Food was grilled to order and took about 5 minutes or so.

Beef was a nice course grind that had some chew to it, cooked to medium. Lettuce and tomato were plentiful, with no real sauce added to the burger. It was a bit big to eat and I didn't finish. Fries were good and crisp, standard steak fry, not soggy at all.

Overall, a nice local place that I will be back to.

• Get the??? I got a double, which was too much. Try a single.
• Fries with that??? Yes, they were standard steak fries, but crispy.
• Anything else??? Nope

Carl's Drive In - St. Louis MO

Traveled to St. Louis for work and decided to check out Carl's which come highly recommended.

Place has about 16 seats and I caught it quiet in the evening. Ordered a triple cheese, large fries, and large root beer. Beer was out of a barrel on the counter and tasted great. Fries were standard fries, but cooked a great temp that made them crisp on the outside, fluffy inside.

Sat in front of the grill and watched the burger being made. A ball of meat, about 1/6 pound or so is pressed down onto the grill and allowed to cook until the edges start the crisp up. Then the cook used a putty scrapper to pry the patty loose of the grill. The burger is flipped, cheese added and then the tower of burger is complied.

It's a crispy edge wonder to behold. Great taste and a triple wasn't too much to eat. Visit Carl's if you are in the St. Louis area.

• Get the??? Triple with cheese (the patties are thin, I promise)
• Fries??? Yes, please
• Anything else??? Order an IBC Root Beer
