Place has about 16 seats and I caught it quiet in the evening. Ordered a triple cheese, large fries, and large root beer. Beer was out of a barrel on the counter and tasted great. Fries were standard fries, but cooked a great temp that made them crisp on the outside, fluffy inside.
Sat in front of the grill and watched the burger being made. A ball of meat, about 1/6 pound or so is pressed down onto the grill and allowed to cook until the edges start the crisp up. Then the cook used a putty scrapper to pry the patty loose of the grill. The burger is flipped, cheese added and then the tower of burger is complied.
It's a crispy edge wonder to behold. Great taste and a triple wasn't too much to eat. Visit Carl's if you are in the St. Louis area.
